In the continuation of her experimental approach, Yasmine Laraqui produced the video Ch’houd (witnesses in Arabic). The artist remains faithful to the chromatic universe of her pho- tos while investigating the possibilities offered by the video medium.
In this work, Yasmine Laraqui reveals the psychological tumults of a young woman during a night in Casablanca.
Pulled between the cocooning of a reassuring closed door and the outside world which will be gradually hostile to her, between desire and tradition, the psychological implosion in which the young woman is in symbolizes the schizophrenia of a whole society having dif culty in nding a balance between traditional and modern values.
